Aspiration pneumonia is a lung infection that develops as you aspirate (inhale) food particles and liquid from the stomach or saliva from the mouth or throat.

Since pneumonia bacteria and the COVID-19 virus may be present in the mouth, it’s really important to clean the teeth, gums and tongue every day to lower germ levels.

1. Wash hands for at least 20 seconds before flossing and brushing.

2. Rinse and gargle for 60 seconds with a mouthrinse containing Hydrogen Peroxide. Look for rinses containing a concentration of 1.5%.

3. Floss then use a power toothbrush twice daily for at least 2 minutes on teeth, gums and tongue.
